Mohnish Bahl is a member of the
Mukherjee-Samarth family. His parents were the late actress
Nutan and late Rajnish Bahl a lieutenant commander in the
Indian Navy. He is the grandson of the late actress
Shobhna Samarth, nephew of actress
Tanuja and cousin of actresses
Kajol Devgan and
Tanisha Mukherjee. His mother
Nutan was a renowned film actress having worked with several prominent Indian actors and directors such as
Shammi Kapoor,
Dev Anand and
Raj Kapoor. She succumbed to
lung cancer
in 1991 at the age of 54. Mohnish is married to actress Ektaa (Aarti
Bahl). They have two daughters, Pranutan (b. March 1993) and Krishaa (b.
January 2009).
Mohnish Bahl is best known for his roles as a
supporting actor in several films through the 1990s, of which his most memorable roles include those in films under the
Rajshri Productions banner. His most prominent roles in recent times include films such as
Force,
Khap and
Desi Boyz.
Apart from films, Bahl has been a prolific television actor appearing
in several television dailies from the year 2000 onwards. He was last
seen on television in a lead role as
Dr. Ashutosh on a popular television series
Kuch Toh Log Kahenge on
Sony Entertainment Television
channel which he quit in February 2012. His role in the soap had become
extremely popular and he garnered a large fan following as a result.
There was some controversy surrounding Bahl's exit from the daily soap
Kuch Toh Log Kahenge. The
Bombay Times carried a report which claimed that Bahl was
removed from the show due to cooperation issues

The Indian Express stated that he had quit due to problems with his back.
[3] Sony's business head had also confirmed that Bahl had indeed quit due to his health.
[3] This compounded what Bahl had himself stated on his Facebook fan page, that he had quit the show due to health reasons. The
Deccan Herald
carried a report similar to the one in the Indian Express and also
reported that Bahl would be back on the daily soap when he's better.
